The project and your tasks

We support the operation and further development of a central, business-critical control and planning platform at a leading mobility and transport group.

To strengthen our existing DevOps team, we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (m/f/d). You will work in an agile environment (Kanban / based on SAFe) in a multidisciplinary team of internal experts and external specialists. The goal is to ensure the long-term stability, scalability, and gradual increase of availability requirements (up to SLA Gold) of the cloud-based application.
Your specific tasks will include:

• Operations & Monitoring: Operational support, monitoring and further development of the production application and the AWS cloud infrastructure
• Incident & Security Management: Analysis and resolution of errors and malfunctions, processing of security findings, and implementation of patch and update measures.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Support and further development of automated infrastructure provisioning using Terraform or OpenTofu
• Kubernetes & Containerization: Management and optimization of Kubernetes clusters, support for deployments (Docker, Helm, Flux) and configuration of automated node scaling (e.g. Karpenter)
• Cloud Security & Identity: Maintenance and configuration of AWS IAM roles, secrets, and encryption (AWS Secrets Manager, KMS)
• Databases & Messaging: Support for connecting PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) and maintenance of the event streaming infrastructure (Amazon MSK / Kafka)
• Monitoring, Logging & Automation: Support of monitoring and logging systems (Grafana, OpenSearch), setup of automated update processes (e.g., Renovate) and development of small automation scripts/Lambda functions (Python)
• Documentation & Standardization: Creation of technical operating documentation (runbooks, instructions) and participation in the optimization of operational processes.

Your profile

• Cloud experience: At least 3 years of experience in the operational management of productive IT applications in AWS cloud environments
• Container platforms: Solid experience with Kubernetes in production use (> 3 years)
• Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience with Terraform or OpenTofu (> 3 years)
• IT Operations & Incident Management: Practical knowledge in the operation of business-critical applications and in structured incident management

• AWS ecosystem: Extensive expertise in the AWS cloud ecosystem and in AWS Cloud Security (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager)
• GitOps & Deployment: Experiences with GitOps and modern deployment tools (e.g., Helm, Flux, Docker)
• Observability: Experience with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools (e.g., Grafana, OpenSearch)
• CI/CD & Release: Knowledge of automating release and CI/CD processes
